Hacos MDB / MDS Depositors

MDB Depositor MDOS Depositor

The new Hacos van Meulenbeke range of MDS / MDB depositors are the latest innovation.  They’ve been designed specifically for those manufacturers whose centres contain inclusions, such as chopped nuts and fruit.

Machinery Information

The range consists of two main types.  The MDB model is for those customers wishing to deposit directly onto a belt, whilst the MDS is for depositing directly into moulds.

The mould and the product that has to be deposited determine the number of pistons and the spacing of the nozzles.  Upon request we can quote specifically for a depositor to suit customer’s exact requirements, determined by the product to be deposited, the width of transport belt, the viscosity of the mass and whether or not the product is free formed or moulded.  On request we can also supply depositors with adjustable nozzles.

Depending on the viscosity of the mass being deposited the head of the MDS / MDB depositor can either be fixed, work in a vertical plane (rise & fall head) or work vertically and horizontally (flying head).  The number of pistons can be chosen to match a customer’s specification, from 8 right up to the 120 piston one-shot model.  Head widths are variable from 300 mm to 620 mm.

Most models have built-in water heating, where a heat exchanger allows freshly made centres to be cooled - saving production time.

Driven by servomotors, the depositor contains no hydraulic oil. Ease of cleaning is another bonus - all parts including the main block can go into a dishwasher, making it a very user-friendly machine with the main block made from anodized aluminium.

A wide range of masses can be deposited, from chocolate through truffle mass, fondant, ganache, caramel and aerated creams, with or without inclusions.

Unlike many depositors, which have a long piston, and cylinder the Hacos machine has a very short piston ‘head’ with a long, smaller diameter ‘rod’ pushing it.  This helps to reduce friction and eliminate seizing.  These depositors can also handle very viscous masses.

The difference between the “MDB and “MDS” depositor is determined by the type of transport under the depositor

  • The MDB is designed to deposit “line by line” on a conveyor for free form depositing of creams and chocolate.

  • The MDS is designed to deposit “mould by mould” for the dosing of all kinds of centres, but can also be used for chocolate and chocolate containing inclusions such as chopped nuts.

  • The MDS is also available with two hoppers for the “MDS twin” for one-shot products.

The built in PLC can index a conveyor belt, which can either be a chain transport belt for moulds or a continuous belt for free form deposits.  The depositor can detect when moulds are under the pistons and ready to receive the deposit.

A wide range of products can be pre-programmed into the depositor.  Information such as volume of deposit, piston speed, such back, rise and fall range and belt movement can all be programmed on the LCD.  All these parameters can also be changed without stopping the machine.

An MDB depositing into pre-spun shells or making free-form truffles can run at a rate of 25 strokes per minute.  With an eight piston machine this gives an output of 200 truffles per minute, or based on a truffle weight of 10 gms, up to 120 kg of truffles per hour.

One-Shot Option

In addition to the standard MDS depositor a one-shot model is also available.  It’s equipped with twin ‘U’ shaped hoppers with stirrers, and features an extra large plc with a special display screen

Two different options are available; a 9 piston version and a twelve piston version, suitable for standard one-shot moulds.

It is also possible to buy a depositor equipped with twin hoppers for standard deposits, which can be upgraded to a one-shot with the addition of stirrers and a depositing plate.

As standard all one-shot machines are equipped with an independent, ± 2 metre belt and one depositing plate.
